A spinoff of the award-winning original series Weird Waves. While Weird Waves focuses on the interesting communities that form around non-traditional surf spots, Breaking Waves shines a light on the more overlooked and polarizing social issues and topics within surf culture.  

In Episode 1, Vans pro surfer and Weird Waves host Dylan Graves explores the stereotypical perceptions that often exist within surf culture, as he seeks to learn more about the LGBTQ+ surf community and understand how surfers can become better allies. Dylan links up with San Francisco’s Queer Surf— an organization advocating to create safe spaces at the beach and in the water— and explores how to make surfing more welcoming to everyone.

In Episode 2, Dylan and producer Dave Malcolm take a deeper look at surfing’s history with race, gaining diverse perspectives on how surfing can evolve to become not just inclusive to all, but a culture rooted in anti-racism.
